Beautiful Beaches of Queensland
Written by Guy Besley, Latitude Travel Services , Queensland's beautiful beaches, Australia is absolutely riddled with beautiful beaches yet we keep hearing time and time again that every place is paradise! Well one of the true beauties of Australia is its beaches. Being an Island of course there are many amazing beaches to cater for all needs and desires. I hope to try to point you in the direction of some of the best locations, BUT remember, this topic is so subjective that no one will ever agree. So please, don't think for a second that your view is the only one, there are literally thousands of beautiful beaches all around Australia, not just in Queensland. But lets chat about the Sunshine State. [caption id="" align="alignright" width="300"] Port Douglas, Queensland (Photo credit: Wikipedia)[/caption] Obviously most of you would expect me to say the most beautiful beaches in Australia are in the Far North of Queensland ; places like Palm Cove , Cow Bay, Mission Beach and Palm Cove to name but a few. Well, they are truly spectacular, don't get me wrong, and of course my old favorite Port Douglass' four mile beach is right up there with one of the most aesthetically pleasing! The long sandy beach, beautifully lined by Palm trees, and so well done that you cant even see a man made structure looking the length of the Beach. But lets be honest, I'm a little biased. Palm Cove beach (when not blowing a gale :-)) is equally spectacular, yet far more commercial in appearance, the same applies to Mission Beach. But for me, I love the surf, watching the surf is as pleasing to the optical senses as watching a slow burning fire while sipping a glass of a big Cab Sav! As beautiful as the Far North beaches are, it has to be lower down for my preference, the many surf beaches that litter the Gold Coast and Sunshine coasts are also equally aesthetically pleasing as the magnificent Far Northern beaches, just without the Palm Trees. Its probably fair to say the far Northern Beaches make for a much better post card! But the lure of the surf and the many activities associated with it are hard to beat. [caption id="" align="alignleft" width="300"] Surfers Paradise in the Gold Coast (Photo credit: Wikipedia)[/caption] So for me, and like I said at the start, this topic is subjective, it has to be the beaches of the Gold Coast and Sunshine coast ! Why? These beaches also have long open shore breaks, beautiful sandy beaches (maybe the odd high rise.. ) but you can always find a wave for a play, surf or body surf, and if you cant, then you can sit back and enjoy watching the waves roll in... That said, even as I am writing this I still yearn for the serenity that the flat water beaches of the Far North capture , combined with their warm tropical climate, although the stingers are present for 6 months of the year, they are hard to beat. We are so lucky in Australia to have some of the worlds most beautiful beaches, so get out and explore them, and open your mind to the beauty that all these natural wonders offer.
